‘Industry Needs Piracy-Free Environment’

Business Software Alliance (BSA), global organisation of the commercial software industry and its hardware partners before governments and in the international marketplace, will actively seek to raise awareness about the importance of protecting Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and creating a piracy-free environment, during GITEX 2008.

BSA's presence at the event was aimed at highlighting the benefits of using original software and the influence it has on increasing productivity.

“GITEX Dubai, being the most eagerly-awaited IT event in the region with participation from some of the biggest IT players from around the world, serves as the perfect platform for BSA to highlight the importance of tackling piracy and creating a piracy-free environment that protects the interests of the entire software industry and fosters economic growth,” says Jawad Al Redha, BSA Co-Chairman in the Middle East.

During GITEX 2008, BSA distributed software management guides and brochures in order to raise awareness and educate the public about Intellectual Property Rights and the UAE copyright laws, as well as about the measures being taken by the UAE Government to protect IPR laws.
