EMC's RSA division announced an upgraded version of its data-leak prevention suite, adding over twenty policy templates for recognizing personal identifiable information in countries around the world, including Spain and New Zealand.
RSA's Data-Loss Prevention (DLP) 7.0 is a suite of network, endpoint and management components for monitoring unauthorized use or transmission of sensitive information. The latest version, in addition to the new policy templates, has been integrated into RSA's EnVision security-event management platform.
“We can now centralize the management of DLP risk,” says Katie Curtin-Mestre, director of product marketing for RSA's data-security portfolio. “DLP events can be gathered up and centralized as part of any investigation.”
Another new feature in DLP 7.0 is self-remediation, which would allow the security manager to configure DLP to send an e-mail alert to an individual who may be appearing to violate the corporate policy on transmission of sensitive information. The e-mail would let the individual respond to whether they do intend to send the transmission or not, among other options, Curtin-Mestre says.
DLP 7.0 also provides other approaches to confronting suspected policy violations, including quarantining and blocking unauthorized transmissions of sensitive data.
