SonicWALL Launches Email Security 7.0

SonicWALL launches the latest version of its Email Security solution designed to help companies protect themselves from spam, viruses, phishing and other harmful threats in email attacks. SonicWALL’s Email Security Version 7.0 product provides high-performance and easy-to-use protection against all forms of email security threats, while ensuring corporate and regulatory compliance.

“The rise in email attacks is unrelenting and the speed at which these attacks occur continues to increase,” says Allen Schoonmaker, Email Security Product Line Manager at SonicWALL. “Our 7.0 release enhances protection by managing connections from our SonicWALL GRID Network based on the sender’s IP reputation at the moment a connection attempt is made. This capability allows us to block up to 80% of junk email before our traditional filtering techniques are applied. We’ve also added support for Multi-LDAP environments, introduced SonicWALL GRID Anti-Virus protection and continued to improve our industry leading ease-of-use.”

Email threats have evolved from being an annoyance to a severe drain on an organization’s resources, costing organizations an estimated $20 billion per year. Today’s businesses need robust yet simple email threat protection that takes minutes, not hours or days to manage. Available as a hardened appliance or as Windows based software, SonicWALL Email Security bundles powerful protection – anti-spam, anti-phishing, anti-virus, content filtering, policy management and compliance infrastructure – in one simple solution that dramatically reduces the time and expense involved in email security. The solution protects organizations ranging from 10 to 100,000 employees, against the onslaught of spam, viruses, phishing, regulatory compliance violations, intellectual property leakage, and other email threats.

Email Security 7.0 makes email threat protection even easier, beginning with the introduction of support for multiple Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) servers. Now administrators can synchronize these servers, simplifying and streamlining end-user and group management. The Multi-LDAP feature also enables Managed Service Providers (MSP) to offer a hosted solution for multiple customers who each have their own LDAP server. Email Security 7.0 delivers enhanced protection by introducing SonicWALL GRID Anti-Virus; a new feature based on SonicWALL’s GRID Antivirus Network. This network monitors security threats worldwide and provides users with real-time access to anti-virus and anti-spyware updates – protecting subscribers against the latest vulnerabilities.

“We recently upgraded to SonicWALL Email Security 7.0 for the feature improvements, and in particular to take advantage of the ability to synchronize with multiple LDAP servers,” said Hamed Rahimi, President, ImageSys, LLC, a SonicWALL partner. “SonicWALL’s Email Security 7.0 has helped us to better manage the sheer volume of spam and other emails we receive, by filtering all suspicious content for further inspection. The new version of Email Security packs a great punch – it gives us the power and performance we need to shield us from email-based security threats, but is easy-to-use.”
