Huawei completes VIVA in Kuwait

Launched in September, VIVA is the first new overseas license of Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) and as such STC attached great importance to the project and was very strict with selecting the deployment partner. After two months evaluation, STC selected Huawei due to its advanced network technology, cost-effective solution and fast delivery schedule.

For the project Huawei not only provided a host of network products, including 2G and 3G wireless access, core network, transmission, terminals, and service platform, but were responsible for network design and planning, site survey, acquisition, building and In-Building spread System. In addition, under the contract, Huawei will manage VIVA's network for a period of five years until 2013.

During the nine month project Huawei worked with STC to conquer an array of problems and successfully deliver the VIVA network. Up until December 3rd, all services completed business tests where 2G sites amounted to 457, 3G sites to 660 and IBS sites to 96.

The VIVA network architecture is designed by Huawei to be the most advanced network amongst telecom operators in Kuwait. Based on it, VIVA will provide best in class services and advanced high-speed wireless broadband that can reach more than 14 MB per second all at a competitive price. In today's highly competitive telecommunications industry, operators are no longer needed just vendors but long-term strategic partners. The successful delivery of the VIVA network once again showcases Huawei’s exceptional integrated network service capability.
