Omantel has renewed and expanded its Managed Services agreement with Ericsson for a further five years.
The Oman Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has held a workshop on accelerating the development of 5G connectivity in the Sultanate.
Oman Data Park (ODP) has reportedly introduced artificial intelligence services bringing in “Robot as a Service” into the Omani market at Omantel ICT Summit 2018.
Omantel has reportedly partnered with Blockchain Solutions and Services (BSS) for mutual cooperation between the two companies, which include availing the smart solutions offered by BSS in logistic and commercial operations.
This joint venture will establish the “first world-class, carrier-neutral hub in Oman” where carriers, content providers and cloud providers colocate critical IT infrastructure, according to the two firms.
The partnership will enable interTouch to deliver “reliable and secure” connectivity and managed network solutions for the hospitality industry in Oman.
Oman outranked several advanced countries’ 4G speeds, such as the US, France, the UK, Germany and Sweden in addition to all Arab countries.
According to a company statement, “Omantel has started experimenting with 5G for the first time in the Sultanate in partnership with Ericsson MEA.”
The agreement between Omantel and Zain will create the third largest combined telecoms group in the MENA region, with 52 million customers.
The MoUs are aimed at improving Internet-based researches and activities and enhance the operational efficiency of networks in the Middle East.
