Pure Storage flaunts business benefits of all-flash products

Pure Storage is launching its latest all-flash storage product, the ‘FlashBlade,’ at this years GITEX Technology Week.pure

“Our new product, FlashBlade, is taking flash where it’s never been before, which is media storage and analytics – especially Big Data or Internet of Things,” said John Hayes, Co-Founder, Pure Storage. “These are applications which were previously regarded as too big or too expensive to run on flash. One of the messages that we want to bring to the market is that flash has really entered the mainstream for all types of storage.”

He added, “Just this year, in the Tier 1 space, flash become cheaper than almost any form of disk. Now we’re pushing that further to say that flash is more efficient in a number of dimensions than disk: it’s less expensive and it takes up about 1/30th of the space – which is very important for data sets that are growing 50 percent year on year.”

Christian Putz, Director of Sales, EEMEA, said, “The business benefits foresee that this new technology simplifies the way you do business. It gives a significant enhancement in terms of performance, footprint reduction, less cooling requirements, and not needing to have any additional skills; you just seamlessly transition on to the new technology and you immediately gain significant business benefits.”

Hayes commented on how nowadays, the value of a company is being tied up in how much data they can store. “Our philosophy around data is that people now want to store data forever – not for two or three years – but forever,” he said. “Our infrastructure is optimised for storing data forever, and we make this much easier than any of our competitors.”

Regarded as the “most important customer-facing event” of the year, according to Putz, “GITEX underlines all of the commitments and efforts that we want to show to our clients in the region.”

He added, “This event is very relevant for us, as it gives us the chance to meet our existing customers and potential prospects. As we are a new vendor entering a very important market in this region, GITEX is very important for us.”
