Dubai Police has launched a ‘smart controller’ designed to increase road safety

Dubai Police has begun operating a multifaceted “smart controller” device designed to increase road safety.

The controller is characterised by its high level of accuracy, clear images and its ability to move remotely on metal barriers.

The device also includes a high-quality monitoring camera, a vehicle number reader and radar, and can monitor speed limit violations and traffic jams. It has a direct-broadcast feature that is managed by the control centre, as well as an alarm to transmit warning messages.

The device aims to assist officers from traffic departments in maintaining safety on the roads, improving electronic road surveillance and capturing serious violations by drivers.

During the launching event, which took place at the Dubai Police Club in Al Garhoud, Dubai Police’s general commander Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri stressed that the launch of the device is part of the smart transformation in all areas of police work.

He added that adopting the latest traffic control technologies can prevent the reckless behaviour of some drivers who do not respect traffic regulations, while deterring them to protect the lives of all road users.

He also stressed that the General Traffic Administration has implemented several initiatives and awareness campaigns to prevent traffic accidents. It has increased its traffic patrols and field presence along public streets where the numbers of accidents have increased, as well as its use of advanced technologies to monitor people who violate traffic regulations, he added.
