The MoU comes as part of the joint efforts between the two organisations to help promote the performance of the ICT sector in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

As part of the agreement, specialised courses will be offered in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certificate, aimed at government IT professionals.

AWS announced the launch of the first Amazon Web Services (AWS) office in Bahrain earlier this year as the first in the Middle East. This key achievement stressed Bahrain’s strategic attraction for leading investment companies, especially in the ICT Sector.

Under this agreement, Tamkeen will be supporting individuals working in the IT sector, in training and professional qualification, while iGA will manage the programme supervision and coordination with AWS and public entities.

Tamkeen CEO Dr Ebrahim M. Janahi emphasised Tamkeen’s role in supporting the Kingdom’s ICT sector with the various support initiatives aimed at promoting Bahrain’s leading regional position.

“One of the important support initiatives is cloud computing, along with its professional certifications listed under Tamkeen’s Professional Qualifications Scheme,” Dr Janahi added.

Mohamed Ali AlQaed, CEO of iGA stressed the value of Tamkeen’s support for similar trainings and its attention to advance the national cadre.

“The implementation of the project comes in line with authority’s efforts to adopt the cloud computing policy within the government sector, through developing the capabilities of all public-sector employees in this field and equipping them with new experiences that qualify them to execute the project. The overall aim is reduce operational expenses of IT systems and services in the public sector – saving millions of funds and keeping well-informed with the rapid developments in this sector.”
